Bait and Pitch: Twitter Pitches

Hi my lovelies!!!

If you're in the States, I hope you are getting ready to give thanks and spend some well deserved time with family and friends.

But #SFFPit is quickly approaching! If you write SciFi or Fantasy and you don't know what #SFFPit is check THIS LINK

NAME: The Wicked Pitch of the East

PITCH: #BaitPitch (YA/F)When Max grows up,yada yada yada.Use Twitter/Word to make sure you only have 140 characters or expect the verbal beatdown.

The Wicked Pitch of the East (aka Dannie)

  1. NAME: Rebecca

    CATEGORY/GENRE: upper MG/Sci Fi

PITCH: #BaitPitch In GAME ON, video game takes over a middle school. People vanish. To stop the game Max braves halls filled with battling avatars. #MG

Video game takes over school. Students become skirmishing avatars. When her favorite teacher vanishes, Maxine must stop the game #baitpitch #MG

    1. I am new at this, but I will try my best Rebecca. Take my comment with a grain of salt. First of all, I love the idea that a video game is going to take over an entire school. This sounds like a powerful idea tapping into a subject every parent/learning coach/ teacher is worried about or should be. I am not sure you need to precise that people are vanishing. I think what is missing in your pitch is what the stakes are for Maxine. What will happen if Maxine does not battle the video game? I know that the school will disappear, but I would like to have the character arc. Why is it so important for Maxine to do this? What's so special about Maxine? Example: Maxine, the cheer leader of Elementary High needs to keep her reputation when a video game gobbles up half of the school. She organizes students to brave horrifying avatars. Something like this. Hope that helps :)

  2. NAME: Sussu

    CATEGORY/GENRE: YA Paranormal Fantasy

PITCH: #BaitPitch (YA/P) Hothead Janna would break out of psychic Juvie if she hadn’t send her twin into the Beyond by mistake. Now, she needs to save Moira from jinns before the police cuff her forever.

  3. Thanks for the crit, Sussu, and Happy Thanksgiving! I like your pitch and get a good sense for the MC, the problem and the stakes. The one thing I wonder is why is she more likely to be able to save her save her sister from inside Juvie than if she were free? It's so hard to make a story clear in 140 characters!
