Review Policies

All reviews done as part of #FangirlFriday or elsewhere on this blog reflect my honest opinion and are written without compensation from the authors, publishers, etc. I review Young Adult and New Adult titles only with preferences for contemporary, fantasy, retellings, and speculative fiction genres. I am not your go-to-gal for historical fiction or westerns. ARCS are received directly from the publishers via NetGalley or otherwise on a case-by-case basis, with reviews of self-published titles by referral only. Please consider the following policies:

  • Acceptance of an ARC does not guarantee a review, and further does not guarantee that the review will be 100% positive. As mentioned above, my reviews are my honest opinion, though I do my best to keep it balanced and strengths-based. If the book is one that I don't read fully, I will not review it.
  • I will not review books of friends or family on this blog. Writing is an emotion-driven process and I think its important to keep boundaries healthy and appropriate. I will, however, pimp the hell out of your title as part of a blog tour, cover reveal, etc if you ask. Because the writing community is awesome like that.
  • E-ARCS are preferred. I do a lot of my reading on the go and can more easily juggle my tablet and my toddler than a bunch of hardcovers. MOBI or EPUB work for me.
  • Whenever possible, reviews posted to this site will also be copied to Goodreads, Amazon, and Barnes and Noble. If I review your book and forget to do so, please do not hesitate to contact me at the link in my sidebar.
  • Spamming my email will only get you blocked. I don't subscribe to newsletters and I support the authors whose books engage me. Let your writing speak for itself.
  • I typically schedule my reviews one month in advance. If you'd like me to review your book, please send me an email with your book blurb and timeline. Please note that I work a full time job, a part time job, and I write, and I'm a mom. So lack of advance notice will probably not make it feasible for me to review an ARC prior to your book's release.
