I know
what you’re thinking. Dannie has lost her mind. It’s not December yet. It’s not
even November yet. I haven’t written one word of this manuscript (unless I’m a
dirty, dirty cheater) and this hooker wants me to write a synopsis?
Yes.
Yes I do.
You’ve
done a shit ton of planning and plotting. You’ve written a short pitch. You’ve
identified the major moments of your book. You know where you’re going and
roughly how you’re getting there.
And
if you participated in yesterday’s beat sheet post, you’ve basically already
written your synopsis. You just need to make it pretty.
You’ll
notice this post is ‘attempt a synopsis’. You’re still not committed to
anything. And there’s this awesome key on your keyboard called ‘delete’ and
another one called ‘backspace’ that allows you to take it all back if you so
choose.
But
today we’re going to attempt to summarize your story—in as much or as little
detail as you wish.
Today’s links:
Who
is your MC? What does he want? What stands in his way? What are the stakes? How
does he fail? How does he become a hero of action? How does it all come
together (or not) at the end?
