Crit for the Cure

I try to keep most of the posts on this blog writing focused, but once a year I have to give a shoutout to a cause I'm extremely passionate about: Susan G. Komen for the Cure. I've participated in the Charlotte Race for the Cure for the last five years. The race became especially important to me in 2012 when a survivor and close personal friend, Susan Stuppnig accepted our proposal that she be our daughter Calliope's godmother.

If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook, you probably know this has been a tough week for me. We lost a vital member of my work/school family on Saturday when she moved on from this life to a pain and cancer-free existence. So in addition to celebrating Susan, I'm also racing on October 5th in memory of my friend Em.

So yeah, Komen (and Susan and Em) are pretty darn important to me. Important enough that I'm willing to work for free to garner donations for the cause.

The prizes:
Anyone who donates will be entered into a raffle to win a thorough (line and global edit) submission package critique. Submission package includes your pitch for online contests/twitter, query, 1 page synopsis, and the first ten pages of your manuscript.

Anyone who donates $50 or more will be entered into that raffle ten times and will also be entered into a separate raffle to win a global critique of your full manuscript (90k or less, YA or NA manuscripts only please on this raffle.)

The raffle closes on Friday, October 4th at 11:59PM. That's the night before the race. The winners will be announced after I cross the finish line on Saturday morning. :)

Know that you're making your donation directly to Komen, which means it's tax deductible and fully secure. The only thing you're entering via me personally is the raffle. You can find more info on my editing services via the tab on the top of the blog.
