Equally
important to your protagonist is what stands in his way. Sometimes it’s a
person, sometimes it’s not.
Sometimes
it’s an inner-demon, or a hurdle a couple must overcome to be together.
But
without an antagonistic force of some sort, you don’t have a story, because you
don’t have conflict.
The
greatest villains are those you love to hate.

Mother
Gothel
As god
of your story world, you should understand your villain just as well as you do
your main character, even if your readers never do. So today we’re going to get
to know the bad guy—even if he’s not a guy (or gal) at all.
