What I'm Reading
My "fun" read at the moment is THE SCORPIO RACES by Maggie Stiefvater with a side of STATISTICAL PROBABILITY OF LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT. For my blog reviews I'm tackling ARCs of FAE by C.J. Abedi and SAVING WISHES by G.J. Walker-Smith.
So yeah, reading A LOT at the moment.
What I'm Writing
I've been playing around with a new Contemporary YA project but I think I need to do some more research first. I'm resisting the call to dig the Book of My Heart out of my trunk, but I'm afraid when I do I'll realize how dreadful it is now that I have some space from it.
What Else I'm Up To
Getting ahead on my blogging for vacation next week and trying to prepare myself emotionally to take my one-year-old on a plane for the first time, by myself, with Disney as one of our destinations. Prayers and advice for how to make air travel with a toddler easier are much appreciated.
Also, today is my Dad's 70th birthday. I'll be celebrating with him in Florida next week. =D Happy Birthday, Dah!
What Inspires Me
Every week I blog about my inspiration as part of Thursday's Children--which you should totally check out if you're into blog memes (and if you're reading this I suspect you are.) :) I'm always inspired by the insights the other authors share. It's my weekly guaranteed feel-good time, taking the time to read and process everyone's posts.
Book of my Heart - I have one of those. I've been playing around with ideas in my mind as to how to make it better and I'm getting to that VERY EXCITED stage of pulling it back out and revising it. But it will have to wait. Which is fine - I have several other projects to keep me occupied for the time being. :)

DeleteLots and lots and lots of distractions for the one-year-old! A favourite toy, a brand new toy, some snacks for them to nibble and maybe some crayons and paper. Those are my distraction tricks for the one-year-old I'm a nanny for.

ReplyDeleteIt's weird it's taking me forever to get through it. I literally started it months ago and keep putting it aside. I think it's the voice, which I like as a writer, but also have a hard time getting into as a reader.
DeleteI loved STATISTICAL PROBABILITY...so much! THIS IS WHAT HAPPY LOOKS LIKE by Jennifer E. Smith was also a very cute read. I still need to finish SCORPIO RACES, but I think it's been long enough that I just need to go back and start over.

DeleteTHE SCORPIO RACES is one of my FAVORITE books. I hope you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteAnd I know that pulling out old manuscripts is hard. I'm finally rewriting one from five years ago, but I had to take the story back down to the absolute bare minimum, and then learn to get excited about it all over again. It takes a bit, but it's worth it, especially when you get to re-meet your characters and remember why you fell for them in the first place.
